The Best of Dave

Dave's last show tonight: don't even go there. It's too much. It's too soon. I'm not ready, are you? I'm sitting shiva over his departure. I love him for his wit and snark, his goofy smile and intelligence, his sharp observations and self-deprecation and above all, his honesty. Thanks, Dave. Thanks for all the laughs and all the fun. There will never be another Dave. You heard me. Never.

  1. Dear SJG -

Dave had a brilliant staff (for writing the Top 10 and other favorites), a supernatural band (and Paul S), and the Ed Sullivan theater (WHERE THE BEATLES "CAME" TO AMERICA). He was mediocre at best in terms of interacting with his guests, he always seemed bored with the talk show part of the gig, he was however a pro at spinning those Top 10 cards!

We've lived through the transition from Johnny Carson, we'll make it through this one too.

  2. Oh Bill, how dare you! Dave elevated deadpan humor to an art form. When he loved his guests, he had a blast. When he didn't, he couldn't fake it. To each his own Dave!
