Billy's Chocolate Rum Balls for Thanksgiving
(unless they get eaten before Thursday)
Ingredients: 3 1/4 cups crushed vanilla wafers
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
3 tablespoons light corn syrup 1/2 cup rum
Directions: In a large bowl, stir together the crushed vanilla wafers, 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar, cocoa, and nuts. Blend in corn syrup and rum. Shape into 1 inch balls, and roll in additional confectioners' sugar. Store in an airtight container for several days to develop the flavor. (Refrigeration optional.)  Roll again in confectioners' sugar before serving.

  1. Do you mind if I STEAL that recipe? Sounds scrumptious. Have a GREAT Thanksgiving.

  2. Steal away. Pass it on, and enjoy. And be careful operating heavy machinery. Happy Turkey Day!

  3. No wonder everyone's always falling down at your dinner parties. I may steal the recipe, too. Is that your kitchen? You have the same little shelves by the sink with teapots on them as mine! Did I steal that idea from you?!? And, look! The same faucet! Happy Thanksgiving, SJG. Try to keep everyone on their feet this year, will ya?

  4. Oh BG, you have solved the mystery. I'm already basting my turkey with cream sherry. Look out! I assume your kitchen and mine are similar, only in that we're living parallel lives, mine Jewish, yours, not so much.

  5. Yes, but this BoomerGirl grows less goy-ish by the day, thanks to you, SJG. The cream sherry sounds to. die. for.
